Welcome to the main wiki page of the _RAdio Logicielle pour la Formation_ (RALF) project. You will find here below a complete list brief description of the available resources project, few notes on its organization and their administrative procedures (hardware booking, platform access...). Documentation is also provided in order to help users in building their SDR workbench. Do not hesitate to contribute !
For general information documentation on the project, you can also visit our website: http://websites.isae.fr/ralf
h2. Resources
The projects include two types of equipments, click on the links hardware/software tools. As explained below for a detailed inventory:
* [[light hardware]], available for loan (mainly SDR transceivers);
* [[heavy hardware]], available on the platform (rooftop antennas, signal analysers and synthetisers, desktop computers...).
h2. Procedures
For each school participating to the project, at least one local manager has been nominated. The can make create projects on the forge, borrow equipments, book the hosted platform...
Project coordinator: Damien Roque (ISAE)
Local managers:
* Pascal Berthou (UPS);
* Daniela Dragomirescu (INSA);
* Laurent Franck (TELECOM Bretagne);
* Christophe Morlaas (ENAC);
* Damien Roque (ISAE);
* Nathalie Thomas (ENSEEIHT).
h3. Forge sub-projects
This in details (see Procedures), this forge allows per-project spaces providing various services such as ticket management, source versioning (Git), wiki, forums... Every RALF member is encouraged forums, full backups and total web-based administration... Do not hesitate to centralize contribute !

h3. Hardware loan project
Every local manager can make an loan request using the ticket manager. The procedure is RALF project has been carried out by the following.
# Consult the [[light hardware]] inventory and identify the University of Toulouse/ISAE(Institut Supérieur de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace) (since 2014) in order to promote Software Defined Radio (SDR) techniques into several engineering trainings. One can define a SDR transceiver as a generic hardware needed.
# Open device (typically wideband with high sampling rate) where all application-related signal processing is performed in the ticket manager digital domain thanks to a host computer or an embedded controller. It results in a highly flexible architecture, generally made of the current project. high-level software building blocks allowing to move from an application/standard to an other within a tenth of second.
In an educational point of view, SDR offers several advantages:
# Filter the tickets by status (open) * cross-curricular approach involving digital communications, beamforming, computer science, networks, radio frequency electronics, embedded electronics;
* fully functional applications based on well-known standards and by category (loan). presented with an appropriate abstraction level;
# Check for the availability of the needed hardware. If it seems available, go * well suited to next step. new teaching methods (e.g. project based, active, flipped teaching...);
# Wite * possible connection with research topics (from a new ticket assigned asking for the resources with the following settings. simulator to a demonstrator);
* A clear subject source code oriented project management, more and description (type and number more used in the industry (e.g. agile, eXtreme programming).
Examples of equipments). applications (to be developed):
* A starting date and a end date. aeronautic (ACARS, VDL mode 2, ADS-B, HFDL...);
* Tracker: request. satellite (NOAA APT, DVB-S...);
* Status: assigned. cellular (GSM, UMTS, LTE, POCSAG...);
* Assignee: Damien Roque home automation (CCIR...);
* Category: loan. amateur radio (SSB, APRS, AMTOR...);
* audio and video broadcast (FM, DVB-T, DRM...);
* direction finding (AOA, TOA...);
Once the hardware is returned, the ticket will be closed. For further ideas, don't hesitate to visit http://www.sigidwiki.com.
h3. Platform access Members and partners
Every local manager can make an booking request using the ticket manager. The procedure project is currently hosted and managed by ISAE. It includes several members from the following.
# Open the ticket manager University of the current project.
# Filter the tickets Toulouse: ENAC(École Nationale de l'Aviation Civile), ENSEEIHT(École Nationale Supérieure d'Electrotechnique, d'Électronique, d'Informatique, d'Hydrolique et des Télécommunications), INSA(Institut National des Sciences Appliquées), UPS(Université Paul Sabatier). It has been funded by status (open) and by category (platform).
# Check for the availability University of Toulouse (23 k€) and ISAE (13 k€).
{TODO} : logos
RALF also benefits from the platform. If it seems available, go to next step.
# Wite a new ticket assigned asking for the experience and hardware resources with the following settings. from several partners such as GIPSA(Grenoble Images Parole Signal Automatique)-lab, National Instruments and TELECOM Bretagne.

h3. Equipments and softwares
The project is split into two main components:
* A clear subject and description (precise the number a mobile part consisting in a loan of students and SDR transceivers to the requested resources). project members;
* A starting date a fully equipped platform hosted at ISAE (SDR transceivers, desktop computers, signal analyzers and a end date.
* Tracker: request.
* Status: assigned.
* Assignee: Damien Roque
* Category: platform. generators, rooftop antennas).
Once the hardware is returned, the ticket will be closed.
