To begin, as a description of the Voyager 1 & 2 missions is essential, we present the mission and its main goals. We also show some accomplished objectives and some technical challenges during this mission. Such introduction will be sufficient to understand the environment of the project and to think about the selected choices for this mission.

After that, we present a State of the art for Manchester, Golay and Reed-Solomon coding involved in this mission. During this phase, a brief history about each code and modulation is mentioned. Then we describe the implementation of coding and decoding algorithms, and finally we try to show advantages and drawbacks for each one.

Once the state of the art is done, the communication chain will be implemented using National Instrument equipment “LabVIEW”. In this phase, we evaluate the communication chain performances using different coding scheme and BPSK modulation. Also, another communication chain will be implemented without coding in order to compare results. The evaluation is especially based on bit error rate (BER), Eb/N0, correction capacity and other factors.

To finish, we propose a solution able to improve the communication performance and to reduce errors. Also, we add eventual perspectives that could be useful to researchers interested in digital coding domain.
