C Scalability¶

Services¶

The ubuntu server may host more applications, for example a VPN server. With the setup of a VPN server a user could configure all the system remote under the security frame of the open VPN protocol as well as add security to our communication system. Other applications such as a FTP server may be installed, considering the constraints of our satellite connection.

VoIP¶

The VoIP service of our system is highly scalable:

*Hardphones: More VoIP hardphones could be connected to the DECT-IP wirelessly or to the Asterisk Server througth the mikrotik server.
*SoftPhones: Softphones may use personal SIP accounts or other services that provide voice over IP or video like Skype. However we don't have to forget about our 500 to 700ms of delay between phones for both ways. Softphones may be included as well into the local VoIP network being configured in the Asterisk server
*Asterisk: Asterisk offers a huge amount of personalizations. As examples, we could configure google voice, add recorded notes, create a vocal menu to dial the desired extension instead of the default 1001, encryption, voice mail, conference callings, music on hold...

Mikrotik¶

The router mikrotik runs the last version of RouterOS, which makes the router highly configurable.

Power supply¶

We ought not forget about the capabilities of the flight case. The battery can hold the all system active during 72 minutes. Other devices may be connected to the power supply of the flight case during intermittent service, for instance in cases of emergency.
