Conclusion¶

The main goal of this project is to receive weather images from one of the POES NOAA satellites, but it allows us to deeply learn about many related concepts.

First of all, the project shows an overview about the POES NOAA satellites such as their history, the complexity of the payload or the different transmitted modes.

On the other hand focusing on the APT transmission mode, it has been done a comparative study of three possible types of antennas. Subsequently, it has been selected one of the antennas, which has been designed and built in order to receive the weather image from the satellite. Therefore, this project has enabled us to thoroughly investigate and understand how an antenna works. Moreover, it has also served to raise awareness of the importance of each antenna parts and as characterize its components.

Finally through the use of the software WXtolmg and WXtrack, it has been possible to learn how the weather images are received and display in the pc.
