The complete bill of materials for the construction is explained in this section:

The following materials are readily available in any home improvement supermarket with a plumbing section. The metal rods, can be made of copper or any other conductive material, however in this project aluminium rods have been used because of their good conductive properties. Once the antenna was built, a female connector, PL 259, was used to connect the antenna output with the receptor. Regarding the connections, a strip board was used to ensure a better connection between both parts and to fasten the rods correctly. The list of materials can be seen below:

In addition, the list of tools used in the construction of the antenna are the following:

  • Soldering
  • Cable stripping tool
  • Hacksaw
  • Drill 6mm, 2mm
  • Rasp

To complete the system, the following elements were necessary to collect the data:

  • Analog receiver, AR5000A. Available at the laboratory
  • Cable with jack connector
  • Software: WXtolmg and WXTrack
